Activity 2.3 Biosphere and Interconnections

First Concept Map

Chapter 4 was about learning the energy that surrounds the earth. If we look closely there is energy all around us starting with the sun. Energy transforms into many other different types of energies some examples are thermal energy, kinetic energy, electrical energy, potential energy, etc. I also learned about how energy in ecosystems works. Basically life needs balance in order to work so there are these levels of primary, secondary, tertiary, etc. in order for energy to flow through. Energy is needed to live we need food to survive and food is made from energy.

Second Concept Map

Chapter 7 mentions biodiversity which is life itself, in other words the variety of life forms and species found on Earth. I learned something important which was that sometimes us humans exploit species to much they become extinct. This made me sad, because I feel like it relates to climate change a lot, especially because when overusing products causes more work to be done and pollutes the earth more with gasses from machines, etc. Biodiversity in this chapter was more o focused on how it can be used by humans. Some examples included food, bio materials, energy, etc.

Third Concept Map

Lastly, chapter 8 was about kingdoms or biomes for ecosystems. There are many biomes some examples are tropical rainforest, dessert, grasslands, tundra, etc. A specific biome occurs wherever environmental conditions are suitable for its development in the world. An example is desserts, they are located in parts of the world where its is dry/hot and they have species that are adapted to the extreme heat conditions to live in that biome. Biomes are important when it comes to conserving, and protecting the species when there is a threat like climate change.
